Thank you for your interest in this weekly practice group. If you found your way here through word of mouth and want to know more, my best answer would be “join us and see for yourself. You are welcome. Your participation and the sharing of your journey will enrich us”.
But as to "what is this group about?", this is my best shot: There is a connection between our spiritual practices (vertical dimension) and wellbeing in our body (horizontal dimension) health and wellbeing. For me, our energy body is the interface between the two. It is all about energy balance/groundedness. The core aim for this group is that we come together to help each other ground our bodies/being energetically to better support the work we are called to do: being embodiments and channels of love, goodness, kindness and hope in the world however we are situated. Adopting Cynthia Bourgeault's Wisdom language: energy mediation supports First Body wellbeing so we can better develop and deploy Second body. It is “energy hygiene and self-care”, in service of our spiritual transformation.
This is not a taught class. I'm not the teacher. I came into the Wisdom stream about 8 years ago after 35 years in mainstream Christianity. Since early retirement in 2017, I trained as a spiritual director and also completed the Healing Touch program as an energy healer. Ethnically Chinese, I have always been interested in Daoism. In Cynthia’s teachings, I see so much synergy and resonance between Western and Eastern practices. This group started off as a response to seek more intercessory prayer for our country and the work before the 2024 election, around the period when hurricanes were again battering the East Coast. It has morphed into a “sandbox” for exploring the integration of energy healing and wisdom practices.
What we actually do in these sessions is evolving. We’ve been meeting since late Summer 2024, and the weekly sessions are likely to include elements of chakra meditation, qigong theories, Welcome Practice and Gurdjieff exercises.
The meetings are usually 30-40 minutes, with an optional 10 minutes or so at the end for people to stay and share their experience and/or questions. The actual format is still settling down, but typically involves a few minutes of centering, identifying specific energy healing intentions, and then it is either a guided meditation or group healing for about 20 minutes.
We meet weekly on Thursdays at 4pm Pacific Times. I usually send out the zoom link early Thursday mornings, together with a short email indicating the focus of that day's practice and how it might link to contemplative meditation and wisdom work. Please contact me if you would like to be added to the zoom link email list.
